Jose Aguinelo dos Santos, the oldest man in the world and a Brazilian man, passed away at the age of 127.

Santos died at his home in Pedra Branca in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on July 28, just a week before his 128th birthday, the New York Post reported, citing local media.

His family said Santos died of organ failure, possibly due to advanced age. He was buried on 29 July at the Corrego dos Fialhos Cemetery in Pedra Blanca.

Born on Aug. 4, 1896, Santos is a survivor of two world wars and three global pandemics, according to a 1917 marriage certificate from the Pedra Blanca Registry.

Willyan Jose Rodrigues de Souza, a legal adviser at the Civil Registry, confirmed to a local media that Santos’ age was correct and that he was born before 1900.

Santos used to be an animal trainer and didn’t start riding horses until four years ago, according to his family. Santos’s granddaughter said that he lived a simple life and was very humble. What was special regarding him was that he didn’t like anything industrialized, but only things from the countryside and nature. “He raised chickens, pigs… his food was Comes from here and has to be grown or bred here. He always likes a little wine.”
