Oldenburg – The decision was made today: The majority of the Oldenburg city council has decided to build a stadium suitable for professional football on Maastricht Street. The public meeting began at 6 p.m. not far from the possible location: Because many visitors were expected, the committee met in the congress hall of the Weser-Ems-Hallen.
A majority in favor of building the stadium seemed certain in advance. The SPD, CDU, BSW and FDP/Volt as well as individual councilor Andreas Paul (AfD) had previously spoken out in favor of a football stadium. The construction has so far been rejected by the Greens and councilors Vally Finke (independent) and Andreas Sander (Pirates).
