Already guaranteed to play in the play-offs, OL Reign did even better. Thanks to its victory over Orlando (3-0) and the draw from Portland, the franchise of Seattle has offered the honorary title of champion of the regular season.
A perfect evening in every way! On the night of Saturday to Sunday, theOL Reign played his last regular season game, all in front of his home crowd. The supporters who came to applaud the qualification for the play-offs acquired last week got their money’s worth. In front of OrlandoMegan’s teammates Rapinoe completed their exercise with an eleventh victory in 22 games (3-0). A great success which took shape during the first thirty minutes with the opener of the score of Rapinoe (8th) followed by the goal of the break of Huitema (24th) and a last of Balcer (31e).
Only, this last success did not only ensure a direct place for the semi-finals of the NWSL play-offs. With the draw (3-3) of Portland once morest the red lantern, Gotham, OL Reign took first place in the championship on the last day and therefore won the honorary NWSL Shield for the third time. The appointment is now made at the end of October for the semi-finals of the play-offs and why not a first championship title.
