OIL AND GAS, MORE FEAR THAN HARM

Last week, Kosmos Energy informed that the typhoons, which occurred in China, caused its boat under construction to drift. And it is the boat that must ensure the production, storage and unloading of the natural gas that will come out of the Senegalo-Mauritanian gas field. This Friday, the oil company gave news.

So it’s more fear than harm. Last Thursday, China was hit by Typhoon Muifa. Unfortunately, the operator of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim gas field had informed that the vessel which is to ensure the production and storage of the gas suffered mishaps.

But, Kosmos Energy, which provided an update, informed that the damage is not serious. The boat in question, which had drifted, the Fpso was brought back to the quay, at the shipyard. “Inspections carried out to date have not identified any significant damage,” informs Kosmos Energy.

The forward plan, according to the company, is to complete all inspections and integrate the repairs to be made into the remaining work before the Fpso leaves for the gas field.

As a reminder, the company had announced that, during the typhoon, the mooring lines of the Fpso “were compromised, which caused the vessel to drift”. Operations had been launched to bring the ship back to dock.
