U.S. crude oil, gasoline and distillate inventories fell last week, the Energy Information Administration said Wednesday.
Crude inventories fell by 2.1 million barrels in the week ending September 15 to 418.5 million barrels, which was close to analysts’ expectations of a decline of 2.2 million.
The administration stated that crude oil inventories at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma, decreased by 2.1 million barrels last week.
She added that the rate of refinery consumption of crude fell by 496 thousand barrels per day last week.
She said that refinery utilization rates fell by 1.8 percentage points during the week.
The administration added that gasoline stocks in the United States fell by 0.8 million barrels during the week to 219.5 million, compared to the expectations of analysts polled by Archyde.com that they would rise by 0.3 million.
Energy Information Administration data showed that distillate inventories, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 2.9 million barrels during the week to 119.7 million, compared to expectations that they would rise by 0.2 million.
The administration added that net US imports of crude declined by 3.04 million barrels per day.
