Actor Oh Young-soo expressed his feelings regarding winning the Emmy Award with an extraordinary dance.

Oh Young-soo attended the ‘2022 Welcome Daehak-ro’ press conference held at Seogyeong University Performing Arts Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 21st as a public relations ambassador.

On the 12th (local time), at the following-party held right following the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA, on the 12th (local time), a video of Oh Young-soo grabbing the crowd with an unconventional ‘Aftermath Dance’ was released and collected worldwide topics.

Despite his age of 78, he presented a reversal charm with an exciting joint-breaking dance, and his dazzling dance was filled with cheers and applause.

Oh Young-soo said regarding this, “I think I was inspired without even knowing myself watching them dance and play with passion in a place where many cultural artists from all over the world gather.”

He added, “Personally, I want to express myself as ‘shaken’, but that image seems to have become a hot topic. I think that naturally came out because I showed various aspects of myself while I was an actor.”

Oh Young-soo joined the theater company in 1967 as a member of the Plaza and has been performing in theater for 55 years. He became famous as the grandfather of ‘Kanbu’ in the Netflix original drama ‘Squid Game’ last year, and earlier this year, he became the first Korean actor to win the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.

Regarding the reason for accepting the welcome ambassador, Youngsoo Oh said, “Performance culture has taken root in Daehangno. Even though I have been performing arts activities for nearly 50 years, I thought that the international recognition was not yet low, but an event with a good purpose was held. I joined together because I thought it might be helpful for my role.”

The ‘Welcome Daehangno’ event has been held every year since 2017 with the purpose of using Korea’s performance culture such as musicals as tourism resources by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It is an event where you can experience performances in Daehangno.

This year’s Welcome Daehangno event will be held at Daehangno, Seoul from the 24th to the 30th of October.

On the 24th, ‘Welcome Road Show’ will be held, and publicity ambassador Oh Young-soo and dancer Monica plan to present a special stage. Events such as ‘Welcome Theater’, ‘Welcome K-Stage’, and ‘Welcome Fringe’ are also prepared.

Meanwhile, Oh Young-soo will go on stage with the play ‘Love Letter’, which will open at the Seoul Arts Center on October 6th. It is a work made up of letters exchanged by two men and women over the past 50 years, with Oh Young-soo, Park Jeong-ja, and Bae Jong-ok, Jang Hyeon-seong, respectively.
