‘Eun-Young Oh Report – Marriage Hell’ Eun-Young Oh pointed out the problem with the conversation between Bae Yoon-Jung and Seo Kyung-Hwan.
In MBC’s new entertainment program ‘Oh Eun-Young Report – Marriage Hell’ (hereinfollowing ‘Marriage Hell’), which was first aired on the followingnoon of the 16th, choreographer Bae Yoon-jung and former Thai professional soccer player Seo Kyung-hwan were clients as clients.
Bae Yoon-jung was suffering from postpartum depression following giving birth, and Seo Kyung-hwan appeared passive and withdrawn. Oh Eun-young, who was watching the conversation between the two, surprised everyone by saying, “(Seo Kyung-hwan) seems a bit poor at Korean.” I even ask Seo Kyung-hwan, “Are you native Korean?” In response, Seo Kyung-hwan confessed that he had lived abroad while in school and might not hide his embarrassment, saying, “I never thought I was lacking in Korean.”
Oh Eun-young explained, “There is no problem with communication in our daily life, but it is a very subtle nuance. Seo Kyung-hwan’s interpretation of language differs by a subtle difference. Oh Eun-young added that Bae Yun-jeong and Seo Kyung-hwan interpret the words moderately, tense, and melancholy in the conversation between the two people differently. Oh Eun-young said regarding Seo Kyung-hwan’s ‘I’m depressed’, “It seems to be an expression of a bit down, rather than an expression that my life is grumpy and sad. It’s a fairly English expression.”
Oh Eun-young said, “I didn’t mean to hurt Seo Kyung-hwan’s use of extreme words.” Next, Eun-Young Oh said that there is an influence of the learned language, and advised that the communication method needs to be improved, such as explaining the original meaning.
On the other hand, MBC’s ‘Eun-Young Oh Report – Marriage Hell’ is a real talkmentary program in which Dr. Eun-Young Oh observes the daily life of married couples and they directly appear in the studio to share the concerns of marital conflict. It is broadcast every Monday at 10:30 PM.
