With the merger of the two programs, we offer comprehensive expertise for solutions for the heating transition and efficiency of the building sector in Austria. Our goal is for the transformation of the building sector to succeed and for us to be able to offer good, replicable solutions for stakeholders. With more than 1,400 climate-active buildings, we are already showing how climate-neutral buildings work
Inge Schrattenecker (Deputy General Secretary of the ÖGUT)
Vienna (OTS) – The most important activities in the building sector have so far been covered by two separate klimaaktiv programmes: Construction & Renovation and Renewable Heat. Now these two programs have been merged, with ÖGUT (Austrian Society for Environment and Technology) being responsible for implementation and overall management. Together with companies from all over Austria, a significant contribution is made to the implementation of climate neutrality in the building sector by 2040.
The two climate-active programs Building and Renovating and Renewable Heat have left unmistakable traces in the building and real estate industry, which is concerned with sustainability. A variety of tools and advice was provided in both programs. For example, the klimaaktiv building standard is the clear market leader in Austria, despite strong international competition. It can be found in funding instruments and as a voluntary quality standard for important stakeholders in the real estate industry.
Essential development and dissemination initiatives for climate-neutral solutions for new buildings and for the conversion of existing buildings were initiated and supported in the implementation by klimaaktiv Renewable Heat.
Advantages of merging the two klimaaktiv programs into “klimaaktiv buildings”
Achieving a climate-neutral building sector is an enormous challenge. The merger into the new “climate-active buildings” program means there is even more creative power and target group orientation. The development of new instruments for the climate-neutral building sector is becoming more efficient. With the klimaaktiv offers in the building sector, standards and recommendations, advice and information are developed that facilitate renovation and construction activities and show what future-proof solutions are for the building sector and how these can be implemented.
„With the merger of the two programs, we offer comprehensive expertise for solutions for the heating transition and efficiency of the building sector in Austria. Our goal is for the transformation of the building sector to succeed and for us to be able to offer good, replicable solutions for stakeholders. With more than 1,400 climate-active buildings, we are already showing how climate-neutral buildings work
“says the program manager of “klimaaktiv buildings”, Inge Schrattenecker (deputy general secretary of ÖGUT).
For Michael Cerveny (UIV), who has previously headed the klimaaktiv program Renewable Heat, “What belongs together grows together with the merger. The klimaaktiv building network will also be a strong partner in the decarbonization of the heating sector, which by 2040 represents a daunting task but also a great opportunity.”
Austria-wide support with program management by ÖGUT
The “climate-active buildings” program is carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Climate Protection (BMK) as part of the climate protection initiative klimaaktiv and is supported by partners throughout Austria. With extensive experience in the field of sustainable construction and know-how for the decarbonization of the heating sector, the experts are available for all questions and support regional anchoring and public relations.
