There are around 300 applicants for the 100 additional positions for doctors announced by the federal government, around 200 of them in the appropriate regions and subjects. Andreas Huss, co-chairman of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) on the employee side, now wants to talk to them and, if there are more than 100 left, offer everyone else a job, he said on Wednesday in the Ö1 “Morgenjournal”.
He is already in contact with the Ministry of Health about this and is trying to secure funding for possible additional positions, said Huss. His goal: “That we don’t have to turn away any doctor who is interested and who wants to take over the health insurance contract and who we urgently need.”
He was optimistic about the implementation. There is at least the sensitivity in the federal government that more positions are needed than these 100 additional positions.
