Ogier increases his legend by winning the Rally Mexico for the seventh time

The French driver Sebastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris) continues to increase his status as world champion at the age of 39, since two years following his retirement as a full-time driver he ran in the 19th Rally of Guanajuato (Mexico) his second race of the year and achieved his seventh victory on Aztec terrain.

Ogier, who made his Rally Mexico debut in 2008, took the lead following Esapekka Lappi (Hyundai) dropped out on Saturday and no one might dispute his victory.

Given this, the attractiveness of the race was in the hands of those who settled for second place, which was defined in the final stretch when Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was able to overtake Elfyn Evans (Toyota Yaris) by just four tenths of a second.

Ogier himself is the leader in the championship, following winning his second race of the year with 56 units, once morest 53 for Neuville and 52 for Rovanpera, who will be fighting for the championship. For its part, among manufacturers, Toyota surpasses Hyundai by 27 points and M-Sport by 54 points.

On the other hand, Sebastien Ogier, with his triumphs in Mexico in the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023 seasons, manages to surpass his compatriot Sebastien Loeb by a victory on Aztec soil.

The next date on the world calendar will be the Croatian Rally, between April 20 and 23, a stage usually reserved for Córdoba.
