Production union elected new chairman and made Rainer Wimmer honorary chairman

Vienna (OTS) At the 4th Bundestag of the production union (PRO-GE), the change in leadership was formally completed today. Reinhold Binder was elected Federal Chairman. He replaces Rainer Wimmer, who was at the helm for 14 years.

“Rainer Wimmer took over the management of PRO-GE in 2009 in turbulent times following the financial crisis. It is not much calmer today in the fight once morest the effects of price increases either, in between there were several metal collective bargaining negotiations that threatened to escalate, and more. Rainer Wimmer mastered these and other challenges competently, calmly and with a lot of heart and soul. I would like to thank him for his many years of committed work, in which he always focused on the well-being of the employees! The appointment as honorary chairman of PRO-GE is well-deserved and hard-earned,” comments ÖGB President Wolfgang Katzian.

With the 44-year-old Reinhold Binder, Wimmer is succeeded by an employee representative who, as the previous Federal Secretary of PRO-GE, has neither the experience nor the enthusiasm when it comes to fighting for fair working conditions, Katzian continued: “I congratulate Reinhold Binder warmly and look forward to it working with him and his team.”
