The fact that officers of the Revolutionary Guards should be added to the European list of sanctions against Iran, said the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexandre De Croix, coming today to the European Council in Brussels.
“We clearly condemn Iran’s attacks,” the Belgian prime minister said. Its attack with hundreds of drones and missiles against Israel is “unacceptable,” he said, and today European leaders will discuss extending the sanctions already imposed on Iran. “I think the Revolutionary Guards should be put on the sanctions list,” the Belgian prime minister said.
At the same time, he stressed that actions in the area that would lead to “dramatic consequences” must be avoided and that everything needed to be done to avoid the bloodshed of civilians. That is why he emphasized that European leaders are calling on all sides to show maximum restraint so that there is no escalation of violence, although as he said, the ongoing attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea are a kind of escalation.
