He added: “It was decided to grant the technical staff a vacation starting today (yesterday, Friday) due to the state of extreme fatigue and the pressure of consecutive matches throughout the past period. Sami Qamssan, the general coach, was also assigned to lead the team in the remaining three matches of the league championship.”
He added: “The players who played a large number of matches throughout the season were given a rest starting today, and a number of juniors were called upon in the upcoming matches.”
He continued: “The apology for not completing the Egypt Cup Championship, after listening to Marcel Koller’s vision, and presenting it to the Board of Directors, which unanimously approved.”
The statement added: “The players who are selected to join the Egyptian national team within the upcoming international agenda will join the camp on September 1st, and Al-Ahly’s technical staff will develop a rehabilitation program to maintain their physical level.”
It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly had secured the local league title last Thursday for the second time in a row and the 44th in its history, after defeating Smouha by one goal to none in a postponed match from the 24th round.
Al-Ahly decided to end the season in first place three stages before the end of the league competition.
