Official: SMIT will pilot the FORSA program

The Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT) will ensure, in 2022, the mission of scheduling, steering and coordination of the “FORSA” program which aims to promote entrepreneurship, through financial support, training and ‘accompaniement.

“With its wealth of experience in the field of development program management, SMIT will, in 2022, ensure the mission of scheduling, steering and coordination of the FORSA program which aims to promote entrepreneurship, through the support finance, training and support”, indicates a press release from the SMIT having sanctioned the work of its board of directors held on Monday, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social Economy and solidarity, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.

During this meeting marked by the approval of the accounts for the financial year ending on December 31, 2021, the Minister recalled that the SMIT, as a State engineering tool, is today adopting a new model of management aimed at improving the effectiveness of its intervention, through the creation of a digital platform likely to add an intangible trait to its activities and widen the scope of its intervention, the press release said.

Ms. Ammor indicated that this will be done by supporting the transformation and promotion of the creation of very small and medium-sized tourism enterprises (VSMEs), in addition to the management of incentives in favor of boosting public or private tourism investment, allowing SMIT to fully adhere to the recovery plan for the tourism sector.

At the end of 2021, SMIT achieved a positive net result, adds the press release, noting that this year was marked by the pursuit of efforts to optimize expenses and the mobilization of new financing, to develop the tourist product. , in addition to the controlled planning of measures to strengthen tourism investment.

With regard to the year 2022, the year of the resumption of tourist activity, the SMIT has mobilized strongly to support the implementation of the emergency plan to support the recovery of the tourism sector, strongly impacted by the repercussions of the pandemic, by ensuring the operational implementation of several mechanisms in progress.

As part of its role of strengthening investment, the SMIT will also continue in 2022 to support the development of new projects with high added value, and will intervene in partnership with the Regional Councils for a real revival of tourist investment, concludes the press release.
