The Ministry of Labor issued Circular No. 9 of 2024 regarding granting workers subject to the provisions of the Labor Law promulgated by Law No. 12 of 2003 paid official leave on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of the provisions of Article (52) of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003. Workers in the private sector are entitled to Leave with full pay for the days of holidays and official occasions determined by a decision of the Minister responsible for the workforce.
The Ministry indicated that in light of the issuance of Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1112 of 2024 regarding considering the period from Tuesday, corresponding to April 9, 2024 AD, until Sunday, corresponding to April 14, 2024, as official paid leave for workers in ministries, government departments, and agencies. The public, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr Blessed.
In the context of ensuring the unification of official holiday dates for all employees in the various sectors of the state, whenever possible, in order to achieve the social and national purpose of official holidays on occasions and holidays, it was decided to grant workers in the private sector paid official leave from Tuesday, corresponding to the 9th of April 2024, corresponding to the 14th. From April 2024, provided that Sunday is a holiday deducted from the worker’s annual leave balance.
