The 47-year-old technician arrives from Brighton, where he was Red Devil coach Leandro Trossard, and replaces the German Thomas Tuchel, sacked on Wednesday following his team’s defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League (1-0). He signed a five-year contract with the ‘Blues’. Potter has led the Seagulls since May 2019 and has a record of 43 wins, 43 shares and 48 losses in 134 matches. Last season, he led his team to 9th place in the league. On its way, the band in Trossard is the good surprise from across the Channel at the start of the season with a 4th place following 6 days.
On Wednesday, Tuchel suffered a misstep in Croatia, where he was beaten by Dinamo Zagreb. The 49-year-old German, who arrived in London at the start of 2021, had however won the C1 a few months later.
The Blues, sixth in the Premier League on 10 from 18 points, will challenge Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (1.30pm) in the ‘West London derby’.
