Dry in summer but extremely dangerous in winter, there are several streams in the Bolívar municipality, whose beds must be channeled, as pointed out by the social activist of the area, Jaime Moreno.
The declarant mentions the streams he refers to; Los Hoyos, in Sabana Grande, below the Panamericana, Granaditos in Granados, Rio Cheregue, a parish of the same name and La Vichú in what corresponds to this municipality, which when it rains, their level rises excessively, endangering homes and crops on the banks of their riverbed.
The agency that is capable of carrying out this channeling, according to the information I have obtained, Moreno added, is the Ecosocialism and Water Agency of the region, work that must have the support of the Governor’s Office and the Mayor’s Office.
As far as the Mayor’s Office is concerned, this is a task that falls directly to the local government, where spokesmen for the same have stated on several occasions that they do not have the resources for this type of work, however with the abandonment of the bed of these water currents, it can be seen that the municipal administration, both the mayor and the councilors, are not aware of the danger that the localities located on the banks of these water currents are in when it rains, repeated Moreno, while insisting on the request for channeling and general cleaning of the bed of the aforementioned ravines.
