Offensive lineman Holub remains a Viking

Lukas Holub gets a 2-year contract with the ELF champions

“I am very happy to continue to be part of the Vienna Vikings team. The past year has been one of incredible camaraderie within the team, so I can’t wait to get back on the field with my ‘brothers’.” Lukas comments on his contract extension. The 20-year-old offense liner can also look back on a successful season personally. He was nominated as Offense Rookie Of The Year, started in every game and also convinced once morest ex-NFL opponents like Michael Sam (Barcelona) or Kasim Edebali (Hamburg). NFL IPP scouts have also had their eye on Holub. The sports and event management student does not rest on his laurels, he trains his body (196cm, 124kg) regularly in the gym, because: “The goal remains the same for 2023: win the title and show Europe what Vikings football means.”

His unit coach Thomas Tippold, is also looking forward to working with this exceptional talent for another two years. Tippold, who himself played on the O-Line of the Men In Purple for over 10 years, sees the huge potential and underlines the attitude of the young player: „Lukas Holub is one of the biggest talents at offensive tackle in all of Europe. In his first European League of Football season, he has already proven to be capable of shutting down some of the league’s best pass rushers. At his young age, he already possesses the right mindset and physical tools to perform at an elite level. We are very excited for Lukas to be a part of the Vikings and continue his development over the next two seasons.“

Vienna Vikings Head Coach Chris Calaycay knows what he has in his right tackle: “Extending Lukas Holub is a huge re-signing for us which solidifies the tackle position on one side. Lukas is one of the best homegrown tackles in Austria and one of the best homegrown talents in Europe. I am sure he’s looked at by the IPP program of the NFL. I am excited regarding his future development.“
