The Cuban Ministry of Finance and Prices intensifies the fight against abusive prices in Havana: 46 fines imposed in an operation.

The Cuban Ministry of Finance and Prices (MFP) reported this Thursday on an operation carried out in five municipalities of Havana, as part of the prioritized work that has been carried out to combat abusive prices.

During the tour, which covered Old Havana, Eastern Havana, Guanabacoa, Playa and Plaza de la Revolución, various deficiencies were detected, such as price violations, non-visible prices and the sale of products in unauthorized places.

As a result, They imposed themselves a total of 46 fines, of which 31 correspond to what is established in Decree 30. The total amount of the fines amounted to 227,000 pesos.

Priority in the fight against illegalities

These actions are framed in the context of the fight carried out by the Cuban government against crime, corruption, illegalities and social indiscipline.

In the most recent meeting of the group that addresses this issue at the national level, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, insisted on the need to work “side by side, from demand and control.”

In addition, he pointed that “until we close ranks from the factories, the warehouse, from the demands of the leaders at all levels, we will not have the results with all the comprehensiveness that this phenomenon that is of national security demands.”

Concern over commodity protection

Marrero Cruz referred to the need to reinforce the custody and protection of basic products such as rice, flour and oil, which are the most complex and affect the population the most.

“We have to continue in this fight because there is no palpable result for the population,” said the Cuban prime minister.

The Cuban leader insisted that the fight against illegalities is a “cross-cutting” issue that belongs to everyone.

“It is not just a statistical issue and the amount of confrontation, clarification, people detained,” he said. “This is an issue that requires the joint work of all actors in society to achieve concrete results that benefit the people,” she said.
