The record army budget will strengthen people’s security

Vienna (OTS) – “The People’s Party is making Austria defensive again. After the Austrian Armed Forces did not receive the attention and resources it deserved for many years, a turnaround was initiated under Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. The Federal Army now has significantly more resources at its disposal than before, with a total defense budget of 18 billion euros over the next four years. With this multi-year financial framework, there is now more planning security when financing the armed forces. In addition, the ‘Sky Shield’ project will finally create an airspace defense that really deserves the name and can effectively protect Austria from threats,” said the People’s Party’s spokesman for national defense and disaster control, Friedrich Ofenauer, summing up the successes of the last few years in the defense department of ‘Conscription Day’.

“It also shows that the People’s Party had the right feeling with its position on maintaining compulsory military service. Because if you look to nearby countries, for example Germany, the abolition of compulsory military service is often viewed critically there today. In many places people are also thinking about reintroducing it or, as in Sweden, have already done so. “So you can see: the responsibility for people’s safety is in the right hands with the People’s Party,” said Ofenauer in conclusion.
