Vienna (OTS) – “Our commitment in Kosovo remains as strong as ever. We remain present on site and are increasingly bringing our strengths in reconnaissance to the contingent. The restructuring of the Austrian KFOR troops is a long-planned process that was discussed and clarified with all states involved in the mission. However, this plan will not happen immediately, but only in the middle of next year. We continue to support KFOR with the same strength, but with a company as a reserve at home. This enables the armed forces to better prepare for the reinforcement of the EU battle group. From 2025 onwards, Austria will provide around 500 soldiers, i.e. a whole battalion,” explains ÖVP defense spokesman Friedrich Ofenauer. (Ending)
