ÖFB national team player Mwene returns to the German Bundesliga

Phillipp Mwene and his ex-club are said to have agreed on a return for a long time. On Wednesday, the German first division team announced the completion.

According to reports, 1.5 million euros are due for the defensive player. The 29-year-old had already played for Mainz from 2018 to 2021 before moving to Eindhoven.

“In Phillipp Mwene we are gaining a player who we know well and who is an excellent match for us both in terms of sport and personality, so we have worked patiently on this signing for a long time,” stated sporting director Christian Heidel. “There’s no need to explain Mainz 05 to Philipp – he fully identifies with the style of play here and doesn’t need any time to get used to it. With his variability and his footballing qualities, but also as a guy, he will strengthen our team in the best possible way.”
