More than 1,000 police officers from many different units successfully deployed for a largely peaceful major sporting event

Vienna (OTS) “The police officers who were deployed at yesterday’s cup final in Klagenfurt made an important contribution to a successful football festival,” said Interior Minister Gerhard Karner following the ÖFB cup final. “I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who helped prepare and carry out this difficult mission.”

Since more than 30,000 fans came to Klagenfurt for this game, extensive and meticulous preparation was necessary. This large-scale operation was carried out by more than 1,000 employees. With the exception of Vorarlberg, police officers from all federal states were on duty.

Different units for a successful operation

The comprehensive police operation took place in Klagenfurt on the ground and in the air: On the ground, various operational units, a contingent of WEGA, the traffic police and special officers from the scene service ensured the safety of all fans and also all other people in the operational area. In the air, a police helicopter and drone teams provided support to enable the operations center to have a picture of the situation at all times.

Most of the more than 30,000 fans behaved in a disciplined and peaceful manner. The police only had to intervene occasionally and file complaints.
