Today a crucial recovery is surrendered so the figure may drop. The UNSa maintains that the level will be maintained.
Of some 5,500 pre-registered in Medicine, only 795 students are still in the race, which are all those who today have to take the recovery of the first disapproved partial. This was indicated by Graciela Morales, vice-rector of the National University of Salta (UNSa), clarifying that of those 5,500 on the first day of classes by Zoom, only 3,200 connected.
Yesterday at the main entrance of the UNSa there was a protest by a group of entrants who claim for alleged irregularities during the first month of virtual classes and errors in the work that they had to solve, even in the partial exam.
Morales spoke of “shared responsibility” in all of this. He commented that the university these two weeks that passed (following the midterm) did not give new topics and the teachers dedicated themselves to reviewing for the recovery of the midterm that covered four axes. The boys today render the axes that they did not pass and they will have up to an hour and a half more than usual to solve them.
Graciela Morales, Vice Chancellor.
Due to the claims made, the Vice Chancellor said that the exams to be taken were reviewed once more. She added that these days many queries were attended to, the mistakes made were explained to the children and the proposals presented were also analyzed, some favorable for the students. For example, those who had problems with connectivity will be able to pay today.
Graciela Morales clarified that since this year there is no qualifying entrance exam or quota for Medicine. On February 1 they began to take the first promotional subject as regular students, but she said that because of the “intense” nature of the course, many dropped out, to the point that these 795 boys arrived at the midterm. Aside from connectivity issues, she pointed to poor high school preparation and the pandemic.
“There is concern regarding what is happening, outside they are saying that we want to get rid of them and that is not the case. But we cannot lower the academic level either if the student is not really qualified to pursue a career in Medicine, we have the obligation to get very well-trained doctors, who are capable of saving lives,” said the vice-chancellor.
reported bugs
According to the Medicine entrants, the platform crashed, the questionnaires were closed by themselves, the selected answers were changed when moving on to the next question, some questions lacked correct answers or were poorly formulated or repeated in multiple cases.
They also demanded changes in the grades of the questionnaires (in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Literacy), disapproving boys who had already passed, even taking away the opportunity to take the partial of the 26th past.
