When first responders arrived on the scene, the driver of one of the vehicles, an 83-year-old woman, was unconscious. Maneuvers were carried out before she was taken to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
For their part, the occupants of the second vehicle, aged 75 and 74, escaped without serious injuries.
The circumstances of the accident are still nebulous, but alcohol and drugs are already excluded from the hypotheses considered.
“Investigators and forensic identification technicians are on site to try to clarify the situation,” said David Poitras, spokesperson for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ).
Boulevard Pierre-Bertrand is currently closed to traffic between boulevards Lebourgneuf and Louis-XIV, while investigators analyze the scene.
