Octogenarian died walled up by a wall that collapsed due to the rains

An 86-year-old woman died this Thursday boarded up. It happened in the state of Sucre following a wall fell, which collapsed due to heavy rains that have been recorded in the national territory.

According to Carlos Pérez Ampueda, vice minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection (PC), who added that six other people were injured as a result of falling trees in the last few hours, in different accidents that occurred in areas of Caracas and in Carabobo.

The official pointed out that during the last two weeks the number of deaths rose to 18.

Among the numerous material damages, 22,000 homes with various damages are computed throughout the national territory, of which 17 “collapsed totally or partially,” he said in statements to the VTV channel.

The heavy rainfall affected the 23 regions of the country, as well as Caracas, which was, along with Carabobo, Falcón, Trujillo, Bolívar and Guárico, the ones that endured the greatest intensity of the meteorological phenomenon.

Given this scenario, he insisted on asking for precautions to be taken, as heavy rainfall and electrical storms will continue in the next 24 hours.
