The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced the match schedules for the South American Qualifiers, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The next matches will be in rounds 9 and 10 of the South American Qualifiers, where the Venezuelan national football team will face Argentina and Paraguay.

Below are the schedules for rounds 9 and 10 of the South American Qualifiers:

-Bolivia vs. Colombia: October 10 (2:00 pm)

-Venezuela vs. Argentina: October 10 (5:00 pm)

-Ecuador vs. Paraguay: October 10 (6:00 pm)

-Chile vs. Brazil: October 10 (10:00 pm)

-Peru vs. Uruguay: October 11 (11:30 pm)

The schedule described in all matches corresponds to the Venezuelan time zone.

About Venezuela’s upcoming matches

La Vinotinto will face Argentina on October 10, 2024 at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín, in Monagas; while the match against Paraguay will take place at the stadium in La Asunción, the Paraguayan capital.

How does Venezuela approach rounds 9 and 10 of the qualifiers?

Currently, the Vinotinto occupies the sixth position in the South American Qualifiers table after accumulating 10 points in one game won, three drawn and one lost.

On September 10, 2024, in the second match of the second phase of the Qualifiers, the Venezuelan national team tied 0-0 with Uruguay in the eighth round of the South American Qualifiers, which took place at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín.

Venezuela dropped three positions in the FIFA ranking and is now in 40th place.

On October 5, the Vinotinto, led by Argentine coach Fernando “Bocha” Batista, suffered a 4-0 defeat to Bolivia in El Alto, more than 4,100 meters above sea level. This defeat caused Venezuela to drop one place in the World Cup classification table.

The Venezuelan national team debuted on September 7, 2023 in the South American Qualifiers with a 0-1 defeat against Colombia. However, three days later they achieved a 1-0 victory against Paraguay at minute 90+3 with a goal from striker Salomón Rondón.

In the Venezuela vs. Brazil game, Brazilian Gabriel Magalhães opened the scoring in the 49th minute for the Canarinha, but a goal by Venezuelan Eduardo Bello in the 84th minute sealed the tie.

In the following match, the Venezuelan team scored three goals against the Chilean team. The goals were scored by Yeferson Soteldo, Salomón Rondón and Darwin Machís. While the match against the Ecuadorian team ended with a 0-0 scoreline.
