The indexation of staff salaries, the increase in the cost of living, the increase in the price of electricity, the price of fuel oil, the indexation of the price of the concession (2% per year)… without taking into account the fear of not seeing as many visitors as expected arriving at the October Fair (Liège Fair, they say in Lîdje), because of the tram construction site: the fairgrounds who opened their stand this Saturday in Cité ardente had multiple reasons to keep their accounts… And to increase their prices? This is the question we asked ourselves when visiting the fairground which was opening its doors. This Saturday, September 30, at around 3 p.m., the oldest and largest in Belgium was officially inaugurated and the world was there. With the mild weather, the fairgrounds were reassured regarding the attendance of the first days.
As for the question of prices, it was the visitors who had reason to fear the worst. Good news: although a few increases have been observed here and there, prices remain generally identical to those displayed last year. A quick overview of the great “classics” of this kilometer of fair. Starting with the most expensive…

High energy. The good news is that the price has not increased compared to last year. To climb this attraction, which is among the most sensational at the fair (a gigantic arm that rotates on itself, with two nacelles at each end), you will nevertheless have to pay 8 euros.
The XXL: emblematic figure of the October fair, it still displays a price of 7 euros, as in 2022.
The great wheel. He said it, he did it… it’s been several years since the manager of this unmissable attraction of the fair last increased his prices. Unlike others. This year, the price has increased from 5 to 6 euros… but the view remains breathtaking.
Rotor: 6 euros. It is customary to say in Liège that it is the oldest attraction of the fair. Nathalie, the owner, confirms this to us: “we have been here since 1969 and overall, the attraction is the same. Of course, parts have to be changed every year and the “machine” has evolved a little. But it remains the Rotor of the beginnings”… A wheel which turns like a centrifuge and which literally pins the brave people who enter once morest the wall. “We went to 6 euros instead of 5 because everything is increasing,” explains Nathalie, who mentions the price of energy, staff salaries, raw materials… “and it had been 7 or 8 years since we had increased our prices.” The “repeated” price, however, to witness the torture of the “centrifuged”, is identical: 1 euro.
Wild Mouse: for several years, this attraction which delights families (from 5 years old accompanied) has had the same price: 5 euros. As with its neighbor the Big Wheel, the price has increased to 6 euros. Reason ? “Everything is indeed increasing,” René confirms.
A few increases therefore but parents will be able to console themselves that the prices of attractions intended for the youngest have generally not changed (which does not mean that this was not the case last year of course).
The little ducks. Here, the choice is varied at the October fair which has several stands of this type. “In general, we try to work together,” explains Laurent from the Caribbean Ducks stand, “but that’s not yet the case this year, so I can’t tell you.” However, the message seems to have gotten through for the entry prices: 6 euros for 9 ducks and 12 for 20 or 22 ducks. Then, the prices change, from 25 to 30 euros for 50 pieces.
Carousels. They are as colorful as they are varied and overall the prices also remain the same: from 3 to 3.5 euros for one tour, 5 or 6 for two…
Ghost Train. Price unchanged: 5 euros… Expensive? Goosebumps guaranteed.
Switzerland. Another must-see at the fair is the slide down Switzerland (parent of Little Switzerland). This attraction remains one of the cheapest at the fair with the entrance price set at 2.5 euros per descent and 12 euros for 8 descents or 20 euros for 18.
Cheaper lacquemants in Liège
In the food department, this is another satisfaction of this edition: the prices have generally not changed. As Océane Delforge confirms to us, “there is a little too much competition in Liège so we all align on prices”. Better, the prices which had increased to 12.5 euros for 6 lacquemants in another fair have been revised: “we have decided to return to 10 euros for 6 in Liège. It’s a gesture we’re making for the Liège Fair.”
As for the croustillons, the prices are also the same almost everywhere: 7 euros for 9, 15 euros for 20.
