Almost four years following its announcement, we finally have a good number of details of Avowedthe new Obsidian’s RPG (the creators of Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity or The Outer World), as well as new videos of the game in action and a very specific launch window: it will arrive on Xbox and PC this fall. An extensive video from its developers has shown us new details of this promising RPG, such as the change of equipment for combat. In the world of Avowed we will find enemies of all types, more defensive, more brutal or more intelligent and for each one we will have to use the appropriate equipment. With a single button we can change between the bow and arrows, the ax or the heavier weapons and a wand to cast spellsadapting quickly to any situation.
Its developers have insisted that the game’s choice system, decision making, will be crucial to charting the path in the adventure and these will have consequences that will vary the game in multiple ways. To demonstrate this, they showed the example of a mission where we found the fallen bodies of some soldiers. One of them is still alive and tells us a version of what happened, where he blames a cowardly soldier who fled in the middle of the battle. Shortly following, we find the young soldier, who tells us a very different version. We can believe him and let him go, or fight him because we think he is a traitor. In both cases, when we return to the city, our decision will have consequences in history. The game is set in Eora, the world of Pillars of Eternity, in a region known as The Living Lands.
