THE blusukan activities carried out by vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka are considered to have certain intentions and goals.

Political observer from Al-Azhar University Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, said that the purpose of Gibran’s impromptu visit might be interpreted as increasing the popularity of his younger brother, Kaesang Pangarep, to run as a candidate for deputy governor of Jakarta in the upcoming regional elections.

“There is no smoke, if there is no fire. There will be no impromptu visits if there is no purpose and goal. It is none other than the direction there, to Kaesang who is rumored and predicted to advance as a gubernatorial candidate or vice gubernatorial candidate. So the politics are very visible, it can be read, it can be guessed,” said Ujang to Indonesian Media, Saturday (6/7).

Although it is actually not ethically justified. However, Gibran’s politically charged blusukan did not violate any regulations.

“But that’s the direction of Gibran’s politics, yes, that’s Gibran’s right. Anyone’s right to do that,” Ujang added.

However, Ujang felt that there was something funny and odd regarding the impromptu visit and at the same time, it made the activity easy to read.

Gibran’s status as the Mayor of Solo has confused the public and left them wondering why he was visiting Jakarta if he had no political intentions for his younger brother’s interests.

“He has not been inaugurated as vice president, but his blusukan is in Jakarta. This means that in politics he really wants to help, to help his younger brother, Kaesang, so that he can be known in Jakarta, so that he is popular, the people of Jakarta so that Kaesang can advance later and vote for him,” said Ujang.

The Al-Azhar University political observer also believes that the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) will not take action or reprimand Gibran’s impromptu visits in Jakarta.

“There will be no such attitude from the KPU and Bawaslu. At most, they will just let it be. Because there are no rules, no one prohibits it. This is the problem. It will definitely continue. It’s funny, he is the mayor of Solo, his impromptu visits are in Jakarta. Meanwhile, he has not been inaugurated as vice president. But once once more, there are no rules, no regulations that prohibit it, meaning it’s okay. The attitude of Bawaslu and KPU will not be to give any sanctions or statements,” he concluded. (Z-10)
