Objective Earth goes on tour

THEATER. After 53 performances in Shawinigan, the theatrical production Objectif Terre is taking a break before returning on tour to theaters in Quebec.

The summer of 2023 was marked by the visit of Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques, who came to attend the show on August 11 in the company of Deputy Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Lisa Campbell, President of the Canadian Space Agency.

A small crew made up of actors, Rémi-Pierre Paquin and Anne Trudel, as well as 2 members of the technical team, will hit the road in September to present some fifty performances across the province this fall. The duration of the show will be adapted to suit a school audience so that groups of young people also attend the performances.

Culture Shawinigan’s production, Objectif Terre, was presented 25 times at the Maison de la culture Francis-Brisson during the summer of 2023. The 100% local creation was a resounding success with positive reviews and an exceptional reception from the audience. By combining the 53 performances of the two summers, more than 5,500 people attended the show.

“Once again this year, with the play Objectif Terre, Culture Shawinigan will have dazzled thousands of spectators thanks to exceptional local talents such as Bryan Perro, Rémi-Pierre Paquin and Anne Trudel. Thanks to the power of culture, we were able to discover the space and the extraordinary journey of David St-Jacques in a fun, humorous and educational way. Congratulations to the whole team for this success and an excellent tour of the four corners of Quebec,” said François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry and MNA for Saint-Maurice-Champlain, at the end of the presentation.

Indeed, Rémi-Pierre Paquin returns to his home, on the stage of the Maison de la culture Francis-Brisson, to embody the astronaut of the Canadian Space Agency David Saint-Jacques. On stage, the fantastic story of a man with an exceptional destiny whose odyssey on the international space station was followed throughout the country.

Drawn from his prowess, his inspirations, his reflections as well as his journey as an astronaut, the piece praises the terrestrial beauty as well as its fragility. Through short scenes ranging from Star Trek to Bob Morane, the work proposes to discover the inner world of astronaut David Saint-Jacques in an inspiring journey that humorously demystifies the daily life of an astronaut.
