As a result of analyzing the medical treatment trends for malnutrition and obesity in the last 5 years, the number of undernourished patients in 2021 was 335,441, an increase of 123.9% from 149,791 in 2017, and the number of obese patients in 2021 was 31,170. This is an increase of 101.6% compared to 2017.

Vitamin D is a hormone that influences the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus. If vitamin D is insufficient, the concentration of calcium and phosphorus in the blood does not increase sufficiently, so that it cannot be accumulated in the bones, so it is necessary to be careful because the skeleton is weakened. In order to prevent vitamin D deficiency, it is recommended to get sunlight through appropriate outdoor activities along with a balanced diet.

In addition, beriberi can occur when thiamine, which is vitamin B1, is insufficient, and eating mainly white rice and drinking too much can cause thiamine deficiency. To prevent this, it is recommended to consume brown rice and other grains and refrain from excessive drinking.

As such, the intensified lack of exercise along with the increase in instant and delivery food intake can be viewed as a cause of the recent increase in obesity patients. I need this.

Ahn Mi-ra, head of the salary information analysis department at the HIRA, said, “I hope that all the people will maintain their health by providing nutrition and reducing obesity through a balanced, right diet and physical activity by referring to the medical statistics on malnutrition and obesity over the past five years.”
