Oasis reunite after 15 years: ‘Fantastic’

Next summer they will play Wembley in London on four occasions plus further concerts in Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin. In total there will be 14 gigs, with the big premiere in Cardiff on July 4.

The concerts will be the only ones in Europe next year, however there are plans for gigs on other continents, the band states on their website.

The brothers have also published a statement that the hatchet has been buried:

“The guns have fallen silent.

The stars are right.

The long wait is over.

Come and have a look.

It will not be televised.”

More than five billion

Even before the announcement of the reunion and the concerts, The Sun asked music industry expert and professor Jonathan Shalit to make a forecast of how much money they could generate. His bid is more than five billion kroner in total.

With tickets, sponsorship, merch and film, I would guess an income for Noel and Liam of more than £50m each (equivalent to SEK 670m), he told the paper before the details were made public.

The song list next summer will not be based on the breakthrough album “Definitely maybe”, according to The Guardian, but there are no plans to record new music. There is also no confirmed information about which musicians will be part of the band. Liam Gallagher is currently doing his own anniversary tour with the songs from “Definitely maybe”, while Noel Gallagher has finished a tour with his band High Flying Birds.

Rumors of an Oasis reunion gathered pace after Liam Gallagher’s performance at the UK’s Reading festival this weekend. Then the date “27/8-24” appeared on the big screens, a hint that something big was happening on that particular date.

The same date was shared shortly afterwards on both Noel Gallagher’s and Oasis’ official X accounts.

Broken guitar

Oasis split in 2009 after an argument before a concert in Paris that ended with Liam smashing his brother’s guitar. In the years since, Liam Gallagher has made a number of appeals to his brother to reunite, while Noel has been completely uninterested and the public spats between them have followed each other.
