Accidents caused delays
Vienna (OTS) – The return journey only started around Sunday followingnoon, according to the ÖAMTC mobility information. The Tauern Autobahn (A10) in Salzburg and the Fernpassstraße (B179) in Tyrol were the most affected. Progress on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) was sluggish on a stretch of around five kilometers between Matrei-Steinach and Schönberg-Stubaital.
Some serious accidents also caused traffic jams, for example on the North/Weinviertel Autobahn (A5) in the area of the Drasenhofen bypass and on the West Autobahn (A1) between St. Christophen and the St. Pölten junction and subsequently also between St. Pölten Süd and Loosdorf, here drivers had to put up with a waiting time of around 45 minutes.
Gutensteiner Straße (B21) had to be closed near Untermitterbach following a serious motorcycle accident.
The ÖAMTC traffic experts appeal to all road users to drive with foresight and to think of the rescue lane in the event of an accident on the motorway.
