Already in the followingnoon release of the Slovenian A1
Vienna (OTS) – The important border crossing over the Loiblpass (B91) between Carinthia and Slovenia was released on Saturday evening at around 6.30 p.m., the ÖAMTC reported.
Like many other border crossings, the connection had to be closed following the severe storms on Friday night. The border closures had an impact on summer travel: The Karawanken Autobahn (A11) was the only direct alternative available. On both Friday and Saturday, the columns were stuck in traffic in both directions in front of the Karawanken Tunnel. According to the ÖAMTC, the waiting times were sometimes more than two hours.
The blocking of the A1 in Slovenia was lifted on Saturday followingnoon. Sunday was announced for the opening, fortunately the clean-up work was done much faster. From the current perspective, the A1 between Ljubljana and Celje should be passable on Sunday, but a number of side roads were still blocked.
