Vienna (OTS) – The 69th “International Rostrum of Composers”, which ended today in The Hague, is an annual meeting of 22 broadcasters from four continents, the aim of which is the international exchange of contemporary music and also the annual election of a “Selected Work” and several “Recommended Works ” is. In 2023 Ö1 submitted the work “Star Washers” by the composer Angélica Castelló – the work was voted into the top ten of the “Recommended Works”. This Ö1 recording was made at the Wien Modern Festival, performed by the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop.
Two works share first place ex aequo. A winning piece comes from the Swedish radio (Radio P2): “Jubelhemd” by Lisa Streich – its composition and the title are inspired by a work of art by the Austrian artist Markus Schinwald. Radio France’s submission received the same number of points: “Nuits”, a composition by Othman Louati. In the category of composers under 30, Slovenia won with Matic Romih’s The Card Players. A new partnership with the well-known Viennese publisher Universal Edition gives the three composers who won the Rostrum a year’s free access to the “scodo” publishing service.
