Ö Berkail exhibits the works of Steve Saint-Pierre

CULTURE. Thursday evening was the opening of Steve Saint-Pierre at the Ö Berkail art gallery, located in downtown Drummondville. Several citizens came for the occasion to contemplate the work of the painter.

“I am known in the artistic community of Sherbrooke since I live there. I find it interesting to get out of my hometown. Today’s opening allows me to meet people and discuss with them. I like to know their impressions of my work. Each person has a different interpretation,” he said cheerfully.

Steve Saint-Pierre presents works from two series. The first is made up of portraits of film and music stars. Several known faces are there such as Thom Hanks, Jack Sparrow and Brad Pitt or even Jean Leloup, Ariane Moffatt and Vincent Vallières.

The paintings are colorful and the composition is dynamic. “Large formats lend themselves well to the space. I love using canvases of this size because it allows me to let myself go. Gesture is possible. Big canvas, big gesture.”

Mists say brings together works that have been done on watercolor paper and textured canvas. “I started this series at the start of the pandemic. I used what I had on hand. I chose colors that spoke to me, like shades of blue. I used resourcefulness,” he said.

The person in charge of the artistic component of Ö Berkail, Anthony Manseau, is delighted to offer such an exhibition to the people of Drummondville. “I was challenged by the work of Steve Saint-Pierre. On the one hand, his works bring something spectacular to the gallery. On the other hand, they are accessible since they deal with popular subjects. These are themes that will resonate with visitors,” he said.

The exhibition is available until November 7. The art gallery’s hours of operation are Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Let us mention thatÖ Berkail recently opened in downtown Drummondville, on Heriot Street. It is an artistic space that combines an art gallery and a tattoo parlour. The objective is to promote artists from all walks of life.
