In Colovray, the gastroenteritis epidemic which decimated Stade Nyonnais to the point of leading to the postponement of its match against Schaffhausen a week ago has left its mark. Among the fifteen players who suffered (three members of the staff, including the coach, were also affected), several of them lost three kilos, sometimes four.
Instead of welcoming the red lantern for its first outing of the year, the Côte club, expected this Friday evening at the Stokhorn Arena, will have to deal with one of the big names in the championship for its entry on the scene. “The story is beautiful if we remember that we had already started our Challenge League adventure in the Oberland last summer,” smiles Christophe Caschili. Intensity and respect
With FC Thun, Nyon will face its mirror team. “Even if we should stay in our place, there are two teams that are quite similar. Thun puts a lot of intensity into its game. I like this team and I have a lot of respect for its coach (ndlr: Mauro Lustrinelli), whose way of working I appreciate.”

What the Stadistes coach forgets to remind out of humility is that Nyon remains undefeated this season against Thun, whom he even beat at home (3-2 on November 24) after holding off the shock away from home. at the start of the season (1-1).
In the race for direct promotion, will the Vaudois club indirectly do Sion a favor by slowing down the main competitor of the Valaisans? “We do not model our destiny on that of the Valaisans,” says Caschili. Not concerned by the rise and a priori already far removed from the fight for maintenance, Nyon intends to experience a serene spring. But by displaying what ambitions? “We want to continue to progress. Doing the best possible means being faithful to our principles, by playing the matches we want to play. We must be able to improve in all sectors, particularly in the management of key moments.”
With just one arrival (Abdallah, on loan from LS until June) and two departures (Baddy Dega, Slimani), the Nyon transfer window did not get carried away this winter. A choice accepted by Caschili: “This group already gave me complete satisfaction. There was no need to change it by creating new habits.” Facing Thun, Nyon does not intend to deviate from what it has become: an unpredictable formation, difficult to maneuver.
