When word broke Monday that Toronto had parted ways with head coach Bob Bradley, some on our desk wondered if New York City FC coach Nick Cushing might soon be the next flying coach.
After all, Bradley’s underperforming Toronto is only 14th in the Eastern Conference and thus only one place behind NYCFC, who certainly had imagined the course of the 2023 season to be very different.
In fact, four of the five teams at the bottom of the table have already made the decision to part ways with their respective head coaches prematurely. NYCFC is the only team of this quintet that still sticks to its main coach.
