On the eve of the announcement of a new series of GeForce RTX 4000 graphics accelerators, NVIDIA decided to entertain its audience with riddles and puzzles to stir up interest in the upcoming event.
A week earlier, the company posted on its Twitter page a graphic puzzle consisting of images of triangles.
Inquisitive users figured it out very quickly. It turned out that the number of triangles in the vertical columns is responsible for a certain letter in the English alphabet and indicates its serial number. As a result, the clue turned out to be a message from GeForce Beyond, referring to the event of the same name, which NVIDIA will hold on September 20th.
A new riddle appeared today, it represents short videowhich shows a computer desk, monitors, and a table lying on the table.
The table is a diagram of an algorithm for calculating Bernoulli numbers. It was created by the English mathematician Ada Lovelace in 1843 for an analytical engine designed by the British mathematician Charles Babbage. Lovelace compiled the world’s first program for this machine, introduced the terms “cycle” and “work cell”. And she is considered the first programmer in history. By mentioning the above table, NVIDIA indirectly confirmed the rumors that the new graphics architecture of the GeForce RTX 40-series gaming video cards is called Ada Lovelace.
Some users also noticed a note taped to one of the monitors in the video. The sticker contains some numbers, which, according to one of the assumptions, may indicate the characteristics of the older AD102 GPU, which underlies the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.
The number 629, for example, can indicate the area of the GPU die, which will be 629 mm2, 7538, in turn, may indicate the number of transistors in the GPU – 75.38 billion. But there are no convincing guesses regarding the very first number. However, some people think that it hints at a performance increase of the AD102 chip compared to the GA102 (it is used in the GeForce RTX 3090) by 2.08 times.
According to the latest rumors, next week NVIDIA will only introduce three new generation graphics cards: GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080 with 16 GB of memory and GeForce RTX 4080 with 12 GB of memory. At the same time, in October we should expect only the flagship accelerator to appear on sale.
