[Archyde.com]— US semiconductor giant Nvidia is preparing to withdraw its plans to acquire British semiconductor design company Arm. Bloomberg News reported on the 25th as a story of related sources.
Nvidia proposed to SoftBank Group in 2020 to buy Arm for regarding $ 40 billion, but faces antitrust issues in Europe and the United States.
Nvidia reportedly told its partners that the acquisition was unlikely to be completed. The SoftBank Group, which owns Arm, is considering an initial public offering (IPO) for Arm.
“This deal provides an opportunity to accelerate the arm and enhance its competitiveness and innovation,” a spokeswoman for Nvidia said. Arm and Softbank have not responded to Archyde.com’ request for comment.
