On the TikTok social network, Courtney Swan posted a video in early February, recommending her approximately 110,000 followers to “avoid” buying certain meats, including seasoned roast chicken.

To support her words, the doctor of nutrition attacks the list of chicken ingredients.

“There is sodium triphosphate, which is a preservative. There is rice starch. In addition, there is sugar!”, she said sorry.

The list of ingredients of the product sold in Canada and the United States differs. In our neighbors to the south, we find carrageenan, which “causes digestive disorders,” she says.

She also claims that roast chicken, packaged in a plastic container, continues to cook when it ends up on the grocery store shelves. According to him, this means that we are exposed to phthalates.

According to the Montreal Heart Institute, exposure to phthalates carries risks.

“Exposure to high molecular weight phthalates, such as DEHP, has been associated with increased cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.”

Fans of this product, all channels combined, did not appreciate the recommendations of this nutritionist on TikTok at all.

Several Internet users have accused her of “exaggerating” the risks associated with this meal appreciated by many Quebecers.

“You’re not going to convince anyone not to buy this chicken,” one user says in the comments section.

“I love this product! I can’t wait to redeem myself,” taunts a surfer.
