“Nursing Summer School at University of Navarra Welcomes International Students for Academic and Cultural Exchange”

The Faculty of Nursing of the University of Navarra has held the Nursing Summer School, a program aimed at international students from universities with which the Faculty has signed collaboration and exchange agreements. Specifically, 73 students and professors from the universities of Pennsylvania, Illinois (Chicago), North Carolina, Indiana and Birmingham have visited Navarra in this tenth edition.

“We have seen an increase in interest from universities that are among the best in the world, such as Pennsylvania,” explains Clara Cabrera, coordinator of the program at the Faculty, “which allows us to share and learn regarding other ways of studying nursing, as well as making Navarre known to foreign students”. In its inaugural session, the Vice Chancellor for Students, Rosalía Baena, in addition to welcoming them, declared that this type of program “reflects the spirit of internationality” of the University.

Every year an academic program is organized with sessions around different aspects of nursing, such as the difference between the health systems of each country, person-centered care, the presence of nursing in the media, the suffering of patient or the role of the nurse in the face of climate change and natural disasters. On this occasion, activities such as clinical scenarios were also prepared at the Nursing Simulation Center and a reflection through art, at the University of Navarra Museum, the academic center explained in a note.

In addition to researchers and professors from the School of Nursing, visiting professors such as Axel Wolf, from the University of Gothenburg, Lucia Ojewale Yetunde, from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, and Gwyneth Milbrath, from the University of Illinois at Chicago, participated.

Along with the academic program, the students and professors visited Pamplona, ​​the royal palace of Olite, the castle of Javier and the Foz de Lumbier, as well as San Sebastián. In addition, they enjoyed a tour of Estafeta street, trying the local gastronomic offer.
