A suspected case of abuse in the Upper Austrian district of Urfahr-Umwelt became public on Friday. As the OO news reported that a 53-year-old 24-hour nurse allegedly sexually abused an 82-year-old woman with a mental disorder. The Romanian has been in custody, which has now been extended, since mid-November. When asked by APA, the Linz public prosecutor’s office confirmed the initiation of the investigation.
Elderly addressed to sister
In October, the 53-year-old began working in the elderly woman’s family home following being placed by a Styrian agency. On the last day of his approximately four-week activity in Upper Austria, he is said to have harassed the patient entrusted to him at night and then sexually abused him.
According to the Upper Austria News (Saturday edition), the woman turned to her sister, who lives in the same house, in the morning hours. The police were then alerted and the Romanian arrested.
Suspected drunk
The accused, who was apparently intoxicated at the time of the alleged crime, protested during the first interrogations that he might not remember anything. DNA reports and a medical examination of the elderly should provide further information.
