Nuri’s second launch D-3… “The weather will be fine”

◀ anchor ▶

The second scheduled launch date of the space launch vehicle Nuri, developed with Korea’s pure technology, is three days away.

After overcoming the unfortunate failure last year, we are now in a state of complete preparations such as technical inspection.

The weather, which was considered as the biggest variable, does not seem to affect the launch.

June 15, three days from now.

In October of last year, the Nuri, which unfortunately achieved ‘half success’ in the first launch, challenges the second launch.

After all the assembly and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd steps were completed, the final finishing work began over the weekend.

The technical supplement for the ‘problem of premature combustion of the three-speed engine’, which was the cause of the failure in the first launch, has also been completed.

By precisely analyzing the data from the last launch, the helium tank was designed to be strong enough to withstand 1.5 times the calculated load.

The remaining variable is the weather, and the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that there would be no weather variables that would interfere with the launch of the Nuri.

On the 14th, the day before the launch, rain was predicted in Oe Narodo, Goheung-gun, where the Naro Space Center is located.

However, the expected precipitation is around 5mm, so it seems that there will be no major problems with the transportation of Lake Nuri and the erection work.

On the most important launch day, the weather will be relatively clear, and the possibility of a lightning strike within 20 km of the launch site is not high.

It was also predicted that the wind would not exceed the launch standard for both the ground wind and the high-rise wind.

“The wind isn’t weak, of course. It’s strong, but so far it doesn’t appear to be strong enough to affect firing now.”

Currently, the target altitude of the Nuri is 700 km, but if it enters an altitude within the error with an orbital error of 5%, the second launch is a success.

If this launch is successful, Korea will become the 7th place in the world to launch a satellite over 1 ton with its own technology.

However, in preparation for the final emergency, the final decision on whether to launch the Nuri will be decided tomorrow followingnoon.
