Several people were killed in an explosion at a mosque in the Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday evening. The emergency room at a hospital tweeted that five bodies had been admitted. A Taliban official, who is not allowed to speak to the press officially, said 14 people, including the imam, had been killed. Explosives were placed under the preacher’s desk. Accordingly, 26 people were injured.

In addition, according to a representative of the health service in Balkh province, at least 15 people were killed in three explosions and ten were injured. The target was vehicles occupied by passengers. Several had legs amputated. The spokesman for the commander in Balkh province, Mohammad Asif Wazeri, told Archyde.com that the attacks were aimed at the Shia minority. It was initially unclear who was behind the attacks.

Meanwhile, in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e Sharif, at least nine people have been killed and fifteen others injured in three consecutive explosions, a police spokesman for the German Press Agency said. The explosive devices were placed in three minibuses. The victims are all civilians, including women and children.

More than 100 people have been killed in attacks on mosques, religious minorities and schools in recent months. The terrorist militia “Islamic State” has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks. The Sunni extremists see Shias as apostates from the true faith. After taking power in August 2021, the militant Islamist Taliban are back in power following 20 years.
