(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Gyu-jin = While the government is promoting competition in the number portability market, the three mobile communication companies have increased the publicly announced subsidies for the Galaxy S24 series and Z Flip 5 terminals.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 15th, the three mobile carriers’ publicly announced subsidies for the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra series range from 55,000 to 600,000 won depending on the plan. The maximum increase is 100,000 won.
If the additional subsidy (15% of the publicly announced subsidy) provided by the distributor is added to this, the subsidy received by consumers is expected to be 63,250 to 690,000 won.

SK Telecom receives the largest amount of publicly announced subsidies.[017670]Depending on the plan, it ranges from 98,000 to 600,000 won. Based on the monthly 125,000 won plan, the publicly announced subsidy has increased by about 100,000 won compared to the previous amount.

The publicly announced subsidies from the three mobile carriers for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which was released in August last year, ranged from 55,000 to 700,000 won depending on the plan.
By mobile carrier, SK Telecom’s price rose slightly to 184,000-700,000 won, KT’s price rose slightly to 55,000-600,000 won, and LG U+’s price rose slightly to 196,000-600,000 won.
This increase in the publicly announced subsidy is interpreted as an intention to gain an advantage in the market competition prior to the implementation of the number portability conversion subsidy.
Previously, at the general meeting on the 13th, the Korea Communications Commission decided to enact the ‘Standards for payment of number portability conversion subsidy when changing mobile communication service providers’ and the amendment to ‘Detailed standards for announcement and posting methods of subsidies, etc.’ following the revision of the enforcement ordinance.
After policy consultation and computer preparation, number portability subsidy payments are scheduled to begin on Saturday, the 16th.
In addition, the frequency of public subsidy announcements can now be changed from twice a week to daily.
