Worn by the Jamal Murray – Nikola Jokic pair, the Nuggets easily repelled the Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Victory 104-93 for the Joker and his band, Denver begins its series in earnest.

For the game sheet made in TrashTalk, it’s here.

Let’s go for these 2023 NBA Finals and a big question arose when starting this game. Has the rest week cut the rhythm of the Nuggets? The answer: absolutely not. Very well in place, Denver ideally attacks the meeting. Aaron Gordon pushes the guards of the Heat inside one by one and literally gorges himself. In Colorado, we understood that there was a big gap and we took advantage of it (20 points inside from the first quarter!). Opposite, Miami manages to build rather well in attack but the awkwardness is terrible. Apart from Gabe Vincent, the Heat’s shooters seem to be on strike, starting with Max Strus and Caleb Martin. Fortunately, Bam Adebayo is there to bring scoring inside.

In Denver, besides Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray is already hot. And Nikola Jokic? He does not force anything and lets the game come to him. The Serb only took three shots at halftime, he attracts attention and serves the friends for easy baskets. He is already in double-double passing to the break! Miami had hoped that the minutes without the Joker would make it possible to pick up the score a little with the establishment of the zone in defense but the pair Murray – Michael Porter Jr. takes care of the current affairs. With the return of Niko, Denver can still accelerate a blow. At halftime, the Nuggets already had a comfortable lead: 59-42.

Small interlude for our two teams and then it’s off once more for a round. Change ? Wow, not that much. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic are in demonstration, Bruce Brown brings his stone to the building, the collective of Denver regales. On the South Beach side, Bam Adebayo is very strong but he is mostly alone. Where’s Jimmy Butler? Good question. +21 following the third quarter, we ask for a blowout at the reception, we ask for a blowout.

Garbage time is on its way and then not finally. Long on the street, Miami shooters are coming back to life. The Heat place a small 11-0 to restart the game. Despite Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, the Floridians are getting closer inexorably. Haywood Highsmith validates Erik Spoelstra’s confidence off the bench with 18 pawns. Miami is back under 10 points!

What if we witnessed a huge surprise? We don’t know how to say no in Serbian but Nikola Jokic knows it for sure. The Joker is absolutely everywhere in this money time. He accelerates in scoring to calm the Heat’s desire to return and validates yet another nag triple-double in these 2023 Playoffs without shaking: 27 points, 14 assists (NBA record for a first NBA Finals game) and 10 rebounds. Without shaking too much, Denver won 104-93 and took control of the series.
