Projected since 2014 in the province of Formosa, it started operating this year and a hundred people are already receiving treatment. 95% of the doctors, physicists, professionals and workers who carry out their tasks there are from Formosa.
The Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Center Pdte. Dr Nestor Kirchner (CEMENURNK) this week received his patient No. 100 for cancer treatment with radiotherapy.
Since it was put into operation, the possibility has become a reality that cancer patients do not have to travel to other provinces for treatment, suffering uprooting, estrangement from their families and having to suspend their work routines.
Now men and women from Formosa can receive this type of care in the place where they live, by professionals who have also grown in their pay.
Ahead of the formal inauguration of the establishment, the interdisciplinary team that attends the place uses the most advanced technology in the country in the sector and incorporates in its service both diagnosis and intervention on tumor conditions as well as care for psychological well-being and quality of life.
The center manager Martin Mutuberriaexpressed that “it is a pride for the province to have this establishment, which has state-of-the-art technology for universal access for cancer treatments and that accredits 95% of the personnel of Formoseño origin in its plant of professionals and technicians.”
The formal opening of the CEMENURNK will be held next December 15, at 7:00 p.m.with a ceremony in which the president will participate Alberto Fernandez and the governor Gildo Insfran.
CEMENURNK inside
The building has, on the one hand, two linear accelerators whose function is to achieve a high-precision and high-speed radiation beam, resulting in fewer sessions and the protection of the healthy organs closest to the tumor.
And, on the other hand, it has a high-rate brachytherapy service, a modality that is commonly applied in gynecological, urological and mammary tumors.
Its development allows higher doses to be applied in a few minutes on the tumor, shortening the terms and sessions for greater comfort of the affected people.
In addition, the center offers a display of professionals attentive to the human dimension and the sensitivities of both patients and their families as well as the doctors and physicists themselves.
In this sense, an office of psychologists develops group dynamics for those who wish to do so while they receive their treatment, seeking that the patients accompany each other and establish affective ties that allow them to strengthen themselves emotionally in the face of the situation they are going through.
The aim of the institution is to provide a comprehensive care to the cancer patient. The service branch ranges from radiotherapy to well-being and quality of life, which has a room for activities shared by professionals with patients.
Created by the Ministry of Federal Planningwithin the framework of “Territorial Strategic Plan for Productive Development 2003-2015”through the National Atomic Energy Commission (CONEA) and in agreement with the Formosan ProvinceCEMENURNK guarantees the inhabitants of the region universal access to the highest quality nuclear medicine applications for the prevention, control and treatment of oncological diseases.
The doors of the center are open both for patients without medical coverage or economic resources, as well as for patients derived from social works and prepaid medicine.
