Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Center: “It is of a very important magnitude for Formosa and the Argentine Northeast”

As confirmed by the official sphere following an organizational meeting, the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy “President Néstor Kirchner” will be officially inaugurated by Governor Gildo Insfrán and the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, on December 15.

In this context, the vice president of the Foundation of the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy “Dr. Néstor Kirchner”, Berta Roth, who is also a specialist in oncology and radiotherapy, highlighted what its realization means in terms of being “the first Center that has Formosa and the Northeast region of the Argentine Republic”.

In this sense, in statements to the Formosa News Agency (AGENFOR)he emphasized that due to its characteristics: “There is no other similar one at a public level, since it is the one that is best equipped, and has been operating for three months.”

Roth also asserted: “Cancer is a disease that affects us all, and that, in Argentina, between 35 and 65 years of age, is the first cause of death”, but that, nevertheless, “can be prevented and for that, working together we create awareness of this in Formosa”.

Therefore, action must be taken on two fundamental aspects, which he indicated are: “One is prevention, another is early diagnosis where in a short time we will have very modern equipment for early diagnosis, and another is also in a timely treatment, which is at the stage we are at.”

And he explained: “Basically, radiotherapy has healing functions, to be accompanied by other treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, which is to act on all tumors, since there are none in particular.”

Political will

For this reason, the specialist then stressed that “this Center is of a very important magnitude that arises from a public project, since there was a very strong political will behind it and with the desire to deal with this problem and find a solution for it.”

In this project, he recalled that the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) was also associated: “In trying to create a network of centers in the country that have to do with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.”

And he added along the same lines that for this reason “the States address it and not a private one, because there is a lot of investment in personnel and equipment”, in order to offer “up-to-date treatments to patients from Formosa and the provinces that surround us, as well as Paraguay, which is nearby, and the south of Brazil and Bolivia.”

“There is no other similar one at a public level, since it is the one that is best equipped”, knowing that “it is the first Center that Formosa and the Northeast region of the Argentine Republic have”, she categorically strengthened.

Finally, in his capacity as a specialist in oncology and radiotherapy, he said: “The mission we have is that it is a disease: curable, preventable and treatable.” Consequently, “the spirit is to create awareness that we can offer timely treatment, which is the most important thing, and then we have to progress in seeing how we can prevent and reach an early diagnosis.”
